Get Involved

Nearly every church has a school nearby. As partners, churches and schools work together to identify how a congregation's talents can meet a school's needs. Ways churches might support a school include:

• Tutoring/Mentoring
• College Counseling
• Community Gardening
• Enrichment programs in the arts (photography, theatre, music, arts, etc.)
• Literacy development (library, class readers, book clubs, etc.)
• Safe spaces and activities
• Parent training

How to Get Started

• Identify a point of contact to discuss the needs of the school and their students
• Form a local representative leadership team from the community to develop the program
• Include common activities as part of the program: Training for all involved and a learning community to reflect and learn together
• Organize project work that is direct and safe for volunteers Annual service event with a community partner
• Perform an annual evaluation to determine effectiveness of program
• Each program is supported by a grant of up to $5,000 from Trinity Wall Street
