Share This PageNearly every church has a school nearby. As partners, churches and schools work together to identify how a congregation's talents can meet a school's needs. Ways churches might support a school include:
- Tutoring/Mentoring
- College Counseling
- Community Gardening
- Enrichment programs in the arts (photography, theatre, music, arts, etc.)
- Literacy development (library, class readers, book clubs, etc.)
- Safe spaces and activities
- Parent training
How to Get Started
- Identify a point of contact to discuss the needs of the school and their students
- Form a local representative leadership team from the community to develop the program
- Include common activities as part of the program: Training for all involved and a learning community to reflect and learn together
- Organize project work that is direct and safe for volunteers Annual service event with a community partner
- Perform an annual evaluation to determine effectiveness of program
- Each program is supported by a grant of up to $5,000 from Trinity Wall Street
